Diana Exhibition at Kensington Palace

Coates and Seely’s sparkling Rosé NV was served at the Preview of the ‘Diana: Her Fashion Story’ Exhibition at Kensington Palace.

This major new dress exhibition at Kensington Palace, hosted and curated by Historic Royal Palaces, traces the evolution of the Princess’s style, from the demure, romantic outfits of her first public appearances, to the glamour, elegance and confidence of her later life and includes the iconic velvet gown, famously worn at the White House when the Princess danced with John Travolta.

Our Coates & Seely Rosé, with its rose-petal pink, was, we hope, a fitting hue to arguably the most beautiful of England’s roses…

Sotheby’s Auction

Coates & Seely’s sparkling Brut Reserve and Rose NV wines were served at Sotheby’s Late Night View of their upcoming British Art auctions, which featured such outstanding Britsh names as Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, L.S. Lowry, David Hockney and Howard Hodgkin. Over 800 guests packed the Sotheby’s galleries, which were awash with the sound of popping corks and excited chatter, in celebration of British artistic genius.

The Late Night View on 31st March was followed by highly successful auctions of Gerald Scarfe – again accompanied by Coates & Seely sparkling wines – on 1st April, and by the Made in Britain Auction on 5th April.

Being made in Britain ourselves, we were honoured to be listed in such rarified company.

Wine Dinner at The Dorchester Grill

Executive Chef at the Dorchester Grill, Christophe Marleix, and Head of Wine at the Dorchester, Vincent Pastorello, put together a thrilling tasting menu to match four Coates & Seely sparkling wines for a select group of their clients.

Each of the matches was inspired, but the highlights were perhaps the delicate citrus and white fruits of the award-winning Coates & Seely Blanc de Blancs ‘La Perfide’ 2009 with the Cod in Shellfish Sauce served with Celeriac Puree; and the richness of Coates & Seely’s Gold Medal-winning Brut Reserve NV with the Grill’s own ravishingly textured and rich ‘signature’ Pate en Croute.

For Coates & Seely the evening was a platonic moment. For years we have worked tirelessly to produce wines that sing to their terroir; that night, they finally found their match. Thank you to Christopher and Vincent for putting us all together.

English Bubbly: The UK’s splash into the Sparkling Wine Market

Recognition of the quality of England’s sparkling wine is spreading globally. Christine Sismondo describes how ‘it’s a distinct-tasting wine that expresses a unique terroir.’

Sismondo writes, ‘Coates & Seely’s gold-medal-winning Brut Reserve, for example, the first English fizz to hit Canada, has a very fine, subtle bubble that helps bring out the toast and lemon flavours of this distinctly rich and creamy wine.’

Coates & Seely now has distribution contracts in 10 countries worldwide.
